By 2025, it’s estimated that 463 exabytes of data will be created each day globally, providing businesses with valuable information about the requirements and behaviour of customers, suppliers, products, partners and markets. With big data such a crucial strategic and economic asset, the demand for efficient Business Intelligence (BI) technologies has increased tenfold in recent years.
Step Forward, Qlik!
Qlik is widely known as a pioneer in data analytics and management and, for the tenth year in a row, appeared in the leading quadrant for Analytics and BI Platforms in the 2020 Gartner Magic Quadrant.
Qlik solutions offer data exploration, visualisation and insights that enable users to make informed business decisions. It’s got over 50,000 customers across more than 100 countries, so if you’ve already invested in Qlik, you’re in good company!
I’ve been a “Qlikie” since 2009, so I’m biased in saying it’s an excellent tool that can add tangible value to businesses by helping to solve complex problems at a rapid pace.
However, Qlik’s real value can only be realised if it’s utilised correctly. In recent years, we’ve seen more and more businesses only using Qlik as a reporting interface with users exporting data to Excel and attempting to conduct their own research. Not everyone is a data scientist, so harnessing the power of this data can be a step too far for many.
What’s The Answer?
Of course, there’s the option to explore other BI platforms, but this will incur significant software, hardware and labour costs. Instead, a cost-effective solution is to review your Qlik estate to ensure it’s correctly utilised and delivering the results your business needs to drive sales and growth.
Help Is At Hand
Our experts at Neueda have been carrying out Qlik Health Checks for a number of years to help organisations unlock the platform’s value without having to invest a lot of their time.
Our Qlik Health Check looks at:
- Usage. How often each app is used and, crucially, what isn’t being used.
- Who. Ensuring you’re maximising your license allocation and checking if users have stopped using certain apps.
- Performance. Exploring whether your server is under resource pressure from data transformation and user access.
- Recommendations and next steps. We’ll provide insight into the wider Qlik product platform and offer key recommendations on creating a programme of work that maximises your investment in Qlik.
While our Qlik Health Check won’t fix the issues, it provides the information you need to decide on next steps. For example, it might identify that apps reload every hour, but only get used once a week, or that a user has five QlikView Document CALs assigned to them when one QlikView Named User CAL would be more cost-effective.
We’ve found that the most valuable outcome of the Qlik Health Check is data on user adoption. A significant drop in usage could suggest that the app is no longer serving its purpose, is too slow, or, most concerning of all, the user-base doesn’t possess the data literacy to understand it.
What Can You Expect?
We use a combination of Qlik and Windows server log files and the Qlik Governance Dashboard to generate your Health Check. This means it can be completed without direct access to your Qlik servers so won’t impact your BAU activities.
Neueda’s Qlik Health Check provides all of the knowledge you need to get the most out of your Qlik estate, with our team of experts able to deliver any ongoing support you need to make changes to your platform.
